Game
Maníacos do Guito
1995

The game presents itself as a version of T.G.I.F released in 1983 for the Atari 800 microcomputer. T.G.I.F was a social game for more than two players that consisted of raising money throughout the week, ending when they reached Friday (hence the name of the game, Thank Goodness It's Friday). In TGIF the gameplay was fundamentally based on a lottery and treasure hunting, in Maniacos do Guito, item buying and selling were added, a drinking contest, and a Pong championship. Maníacos do Guito, like T.G.I.F, were part of the genre called Party Games, the essence of its gameplay was in managing socialization between players. Hence it is not surprising that after so many years Eurico Moita still receives emails from players who remember the game with nostalgia.

In 1995 we would see the appearance of the second national game for Amiga, now already for the 1200 version, with the 68020 processor. Maniacos do Guito would be created by Eurico Moita with graphics by Luís Santos and music and sound by Carlos Miguel. Eurico Moita was in the 1st year of the Degree in Computer Science at the University of Lisbon, but he realized that the course did not meet expectations, namely in the field of programming, noting that "being unmotivated with the course he spent a lot of time with the game's design as a form of escape". After nine months the game was ready to be distributed being done through friends, and also through the Centro Amiga shop in Lisbon, which offered a copy of the game with the purchase of each new Amiga.
