Ivan Barroso was born in 1980 in Lisbon, Portugal. He is currently the Game Designer and Project Manager for Alentejo: The Tinto & The Ugly© and Alentejo: Tinto's Law©. He is also working on Loading Studios' next project, #31 Luzyahdas: The Botafogo Odyssey.

He has collaborated on several projects, including Njinga: The Diplomat Warrior (Team Njinga), Those Who Remain and Beneath (Camel 101), Out of Line (Nerd Monkeys), Fruit Birds, Where's My Cheese, Pixel Jumper, and Bird Bash (Bob Games), as well as Buddy Trivia (XS Gamerz).

He holds a Ph.D. in Game Studies and is a cultural researcher specialising in video games. He teaches undergraduate and master's degree courses in game development at Universidade Lusófona and ETIC. He is the author of three books, including History of Video Games (2012), Service Games (2014), and Interactive Revolution (2018). He has also written game-related columns for PushStart magazine and the newspaper Público. In addition, he served as the Portuguese representative for PlayStation® First and is certified in Ubisoft's Rational Game Design.
