How we calculate active developer data
- Up to 2001 we estimate active developers based on the years of (credited) participation in games, whether they were published that year or in the following two years (assuming they worked on the same development during that period). In this case, since developers are counted individually, we have specific data by gender.
- From 2001 we estimate active developers based on the number of workers we store (by classification) for each studio or company. Since in this case the number of workers is absolute and not by gender, we estimate the gender distribution by calculating a coefficient with the data from the previous option and applying it to the total number of workers obtained in this case.
